It
was at a Chuck Mangione concert at the age of 13 that Terry proclaimed,
"That's what I'm going to do for the rest of my life!" What
has followed has been a lively career thrilling audiences and critics worldwide.
He is in constant demand for corporate and private events as well as
club dates.
Multi-instrumentalist
Terry Higgins performs contemporary jazz, traditional jazz and latin
jazz, on Soprano sax, Alto sax, Tenor Sax, Trumpet, Flugelhorn and
Piano.
Terry
was born in Gary, Indiana and moved to Chicago to study Music and Marketing
at Roosevelt University, where he performed with various Chicago jazz
groups. But
in February 1993 it was time to start featuring his original compositions
along with his incredible repertoire of American jazz standards and
Contemporary jazz classics. This resulted in the recording
of his first CD “Shake Up”.
For
several years, Chicago’s smooth jazz radio station WNUA
(95.5 FM) featured Terry on their stage at “Taste of Chicago” in
Grant Park. Over one million people attend this festival of food and
music each year and he has received standing ovations at all of his performances.
Terry has also performed to thousands of guests at the Woodfield Mall “Jazz
at Seven” series along with artists Diane Schuur, Larry Coryell,
Kim Pensyl, Alex Bugnon, David Benoit, Nelson Rangell, Count Basie’s
Big Band, Dave Valentine and Stanley Turrentine.
Terry has toured the Gulf States of the Middle-East, including Dubai,
Muscat, Al Ain, Abu Dhabi and Bahrain. They loved his special brand
of American jazz.
